How do I use the online catalog?

To access our catalog,  click SEARCH OUR CATALOG at the top of the web page. This will bring you to our catalog, where you can search for an item on our shelves, place a hold, change your user information and renew your materials.

    • To search for a book or DVD by title: Type the title of the book in the search bar and click TITLE. The title needs to be exact. If you're unsure of the title, but can name a few words in the title, try clicking on SMART SEARCH.
    • To search for a book by author: Type the author's name (last name, first name) and click on AUTHOR. Again, be sure your spelling is correct.
    • You can perform advanced searches in the catalog by pulling down on SIMPLE (to the right of the SMART SEARCH button) and choosing ADVANCED.

For more information on using our catalog, ask at the circulation desk.

How do I log in to place a hold or renew my materials?

Go to our catalog or click on SEARCH OUR CATALOG at the top of the web page. Log in from the catalog by clicking on LOG IN at the top of the page. Your username is your library card number, and your password is your last name. If your login is successful, your name will appear at the top of the page. Click on your name to view your activity, change your settings, or renew your materials. You'll now be able to place books on hold, as well. See staff for assistance if you need it.

How do I download books?

PML cardholders have access to hundreds of ebooks and audiobooks via the Cloud Library, offered in partnership with other Maine libraries.

Click on DOWNLOAD A BOOK  at the top of our website, or download the free Cloud Library app to your smart phone or device. Once in, choose "Cumberland, Prince Memorial Library" and enter your library card number.  You can check out up to three items at a time, and don’t need to worry about returns.

Need a walk-through? Ask our reference librarian for a quick tutorial.
